The Ouseburn Valley Brewery Story

"I've loved beer all my life", says founder Nigel.

It was only when we moved back to the north east that I was able to take my passion for brewing to the next stage.

In October 2010 Ouseburn Valley Brewery started commercially brewing in my garage. The kit is still there and is still used to produce bespoke beers and for experimental brewing. Most of the beer went locally to the Brandling Villa where landlord Dave Carr has been a great supporter.

Over the next 9 months I developed several new beers and improved my knowledge of all round beer production.

In April 2011 work began on the new brewery in the basement of the Brandling Villa including cellar clearing, stud walling, painting, flooring and most time consumingly getting electric installed.

The Brewery itself was purchased from Oban Ales in Scotland and was delivered in April but not actually fitted until the end of May.

From there we have never looked back.
